Blending into the background

There's a story behind this outfit - do you have a minute? Ok, I will begin. This week was my favourite brand, Black Milk's Cyber Sale. I already own more leggings than I can shake a stick at, so I thought I'd experiment with a Purple Galaxy dress... And then later in the week, I gave in to temptation and bought myself a La Trapiste Swim. Now, the problem with this is, however pretty the swim is, my previous attempts at incorporating a swimsuit into my wardrobe have fallen flat.

After much thought, I decided that a PVC skater skirt would be a wise choice - and went for this floaty fabric jobby from H&M. Because it is less thick than some, I think it is slightly more flattering and I am now ready for my next sharkie delivery, when it arrives!

My camouflage jacket was an impulse buy yesterday in a charity shop. I like to have something old and something new in every outfit, and this jacket was only £1.50 as part of a buy one get one half price offer.

Although I love my new TopShop boots, I'm not quite sure if they fill the void left in my life by not owning any of those lovely chunky holey boots that are so in at the moment!

Adorable Plushies - my secret(ish) addiction

Yabba Dabba Doo

How's it going, y'all?

Ok - so this is just a quick blog - but it's something very close to my heart - particularly when I'm sleeping. For I am old (the later end of my 20s... scary innit) and I still love stuffed animals, not to mention some dolls and toys. I can't help it. I've tried to move on. My boyfriend and parents despair but I just can't help myself.

Perhaps one day, I'll have a pet or child (eek) and that will fill the void. But until then, I just keep picking them up in charity shops, at car boot sales or on ebay. My room is full. My attic is full. My desk is full and soon I won't be able to see out of the back window of my car.

Recently, I have made friends with the lovely Kelsey Karnage and she is most definitely a bad influence.

Here is my current plushy wishlist:

1) Boo, the cutest dog in the world

If you're not aware of the phenomenon what is Boo, the short haired pomeranian - check him out HERE! Can you spot him amongst his plushy clones?

2) Frankenweenie's missus, Persephone

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I've had the plushie Sparky for weeks. He's very very VERY cute. (Here's me with him, the day we first met)

He looks a bit lonely by himself though....

3) Luna and/or Artemis, from Sailor Moon!

Me and the aforementioned Kelsey love Sailor Moon. We intend to do a latexy dress up. This requires cuddly catshaped companions...

4) Arpakasso

Or, translated, Alpacca! They're only available from Hong Kong at the moment, so they cost a bit - but they're sooo cute. I already have one, Princess Flump...

But she's a little bit tiny... I want MORE! MORE I TELL YOU!

5) This flamingo.  Because it rocks.

6) Adventure Time plushies

My favourite tv show just got PLUSHY!

7) My Little Pony plushies

I already have... oo probably 10 MLP plushies, not to mention one custom made one...

but Kelsey has THIS ONE. And I wants!

8) Plush snacks. Just because. Omnomnom.

So... that's my current wishlist. And I've scared myself a bit...

10 things I love about Geisha Wigs

Hi guys, how's it going?

I have been the recipient of an amazing random act of human kindness today. I am lucky enough to be a sponsored model for Geisha Wigs, which means I get sent fabulous wigs quite often. Which is awesome. Then today, whilst I was sitting at my desktop, snuffling into a tissue (my fault for wandering around a muddy field on Sunday with no shoes on - see photos of me as a fairy in my previous blog) I got a very lovely present from Maria, the gorgeous girl behind Geisha Wigs. She'd bought me some Peacock Leggings from Black Milk. Why? Because she's awesome.

How can I possibly say thank you? Well, I thought maybe I could compile a '10 things I hate about you' style list of reasons why, if you haven't already discovered her and her lovely wigs, you should. So here we go...

1) I've always wanted to have pink hair... (here's a photo of me from Christmas, when I briefly had pink hair, by Matt Staples Photography)

Looks a bit pants, right? And it washed out everywhere but the roots, which stayed pink for weeks. And it ruined my hair.
However, thanks to Geisha Wigs, I can have gorgeous pink hair any day that I fancy (photo by Nils Bratby at ImmortalEye) - it doesn't fade or go patchy, it's just awesome:

2) But wigs are only for playtime right? Wrong! I've worn mine for nights out and been complemented on my fabulous locks!

3. OK - I like pink, but that's not all they do! There's something for everyone, whether you like blue wigs...

4. Black wigs..

5. Multicoloured pastel wigs...

(by Matthew Kitchen Photography)

6. Purple wigs...

(by Myco Studio)

7. Rockstar wigs...

(by DFR Photography)

8. Angel Wigs...

(by Heffs Photography)

9. ...and every other wig you could imagine! They are excellent quality, they can even be styled as they are made of synthetic high temperature fibre, up to 180F. Because they're based in the UK, you don't have to wait ages for deliveries, and they are very reasonably priced! And when you're feeling a little bit 'bleurgh', they sure brighten up your day.

10. Maria - the owner - is bloody gorgeous, lovely and talented. Here she is, wearing Nanette:

I'm meeting her for the first time in a few weeks - I can't bloody wait!

Hmm... do I really need another social network to get addicted to?

Hi there - this is me tentatively dipping my toes into the world of blogging. One of my friends *celeb name drop Emily Divine* does it and I guess I'm a bit of a sheep, really. My boyfriend is always moaning at me about the amount of time I spend updating my various social networking accounts *current preference - facebook* so this is probably a really bad idea.

I haven't quite decided yet what this blog should be about. My three main interests are film, music and fashion *yeah, me and every other douchebag* so I guess this might become a mix of all three? I also am known to dabble in photography - the bit in front of the camera, not behind. Yes - very egotistical, I know. What can I say, I'm a shameless media whore.

So, my weekend has been made up of my three favourites.

On Friday, I went to a great gig at the Bull in Colchester featuring my old favourites, Angry vs the Bear and Benjamin Bloom. I was expecting great things from these local acts, having been following them for over five years. The surprise of the night came from Dead Cannons, who were just superb. I'll admit I was a bit drunk but.. yeah... poppy and catchy but with enough electro awesomeness to keep me clinging on to their every note. I'll obviously have to re listen in a more sober state, but in the meantime, check them out here...

On Saturday, I was a bit lonely and I took myself to the cinema. Yes, I am a social pariah but also, it truly immerses me in the experience. Well, it would if the cinema wasn't always filled with giggling tweenagers who are far more interested in shouting at each other than watching the film. I'd almost gathered enough indignant rage to scream profanities at them, when the film started and it was really good. So good, the prepubescent twats shut up.

It was Ruby Sparks, which plays on the irritating quirky lead female stereotype (think Natalie Portman in Garden State, Kiera Knightley in Seeking a Friend for the End of the Universe and Zooey Deschanel in anything her twuntish face face decides to appear in). I have a lot of time for Paul Dano and he gives an exceptional performance. The plot, despite hints of 80s classic Wierd Science, is fresh, original and much darker than you would originally give it credit. Go check it out at your nearest World of Cine (other massive cinema superchains are available), and see Paranorman too while you're at it. Then see Frankenweenie, because it will be the best thing ever (I haven't seen it yet, but it will).

On Sunday, me and my friends went to the Ipswich Vintage fair where I got a phenomenal studded leather jacket for a steal at £20. Despite my love of vintage, I spunked most of my cash on these beauties from  the River Island sale..

£25 for the dress, £15 for the creepers (which I eyed up on Friday and Saturday before buying - the staff were pretty much cheering when I finally took them to the counter). Not ba,d eh? Shame that my internal maths knows that, if I hadn't bought these beauties or my jacket, I could've afforded a new pair of Black Milk leggings... Oh well. We also had a lovely lunch at Patisserie Valerie, served by a fabulously funny waiter. I almost scared him off when I held up my perfectly formed Eggs Benedict and said 'check out my boobs'. Almost.

In other news, I did 2 photo shoots for my favourite wig company Geisha Wigs.. one on Saturday with Myco Studios, and a second on Sunday with Studio Six - a group shoot with some lovely ladies, all dressed as fairies... Here are some of the results...

Well, that's that for my first blog. Hope I didn't bore you senseless - toodleoo! xx
